Even though I messed up the face and the hands, I am so excited as I begin to add this skill to my design arsenal. The main reason I started the class to learn to sketch my ideas for knitwear designs. This is a really big part of submissions for knitting magazines and I want to make my sketches really, really good. Isaac Mizrahi good. I was inspired by his sketch in Women's Wear Daily of inauguration dresses for the First Lady and her girls: What about you? What new things are you learning to do?

I actually like your version better! maybe because I keep thinking his head is a balloon that's about to fly away. :)
hmm what am I learning to do? I've been getting deeper into my yoga practice and learning new poses.
that's a great drawing! i've been wanting to take a drawing class for a while, and for the same reason you mentioned.
you should see my drawings for design submissions. they're getting a tiny bit better, but still look like a kid might have drawn them.
That book really opened up a lot for me. It's worth it to do those exercises. I'm with you Trish, love those fashion illustrations from Mizrahi. Ever see him do them on his TV show? He's confident and FAST!
You did a great job! Perfection in overrated when it comes to fashion illustrations, find a style that works for you. Since you really like Isaac Mizrahi, you might want to check out Andy Warhol's fasion illustrations. Good luck and keep practicing...it really does help.
Mizrahi has a TV show?? What channel and when!?! And what planet have I been on that I didn't know this?!
I like your version of the drawing better than the original, too. I'd love to learn to draw, but I have trouble with simple stick figures.
Welp, I'm learning to be patient. Knitting has actually been my recent undertaking, in terms of new things to try and learn. I believe in trying something new pretty often, especially since I'm a teacher. Love that you have put this question out there, TTW. Thanks for sharing and pulling folks together through your work.
by the way, Trish, your drawing is super impressive. Glad you are exploring this artistic medium.
